This account is used to record the amount of pension benefits, excluding Railroad Retirement Benefits and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Pension, due from the administering federal entities to eligible federal civilian employees, military employees, or their beneficiaries. This is not an actuarial liability. (Refer to Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB) Statement of Federal Financial Accounting Standards (SFFAS) No. 1, "Accounting for Selected Assets and Liabilities," paragraph 84.) This account does not close at year-end.
